Syrian sovereign fund receives the Lebanese Minister of Economy to Investment Cooperation

The Syrian Sovereign Fund received a Lebanese economic delegation in Damascus, led by Lebanon’s Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Bisat, as part of an official visit aimed at strengthening economic and commercial relations and expanding institutional and private-sector cooperation between Syria and Lebanon.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss investment cooperation and explore areas where Syrian capabilities and Lebanese expertise can support commercially viable, sustainable partnerships.

The delegation included representatives of Lebanese economic organisations, chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture, and the Lebanese-Syrian Business Council. Their participation reflected the importance of engaging the private sector and organised business communities in translating cooperation opportunities into practical initiatives and projects.

During the meeting, the Fund presented its role in managing and investing state assets, developing productive and development-oriented projects, and building partnerships with investors and institutions capable of contributing capital, technical knowledge and operating expertise. The two sides also discussed the importance of establishing institutional channels to exchange information on investment opportunities and assess sectors of mutual interest.

The meeting formed part of a wider economic programme in Damascus covering infrastructure, energy, transport, services, tourism and banking, as well as trade development and technical and logistical challenges facing companies and businesspeople.

The Syrian Sovereign Fund emphasised the importance of moving economic cooperation towards structured institutional pathways based on clear studies and workable investment models, in order to build confidence and support long-term partnerships that generate economic value for both Syria and Lebanon.
